Academy Award SpeedTree Sale

It’s Oscar weekend and the 87th Academy Awards will be taking place tonight, but just two weeks ago, our core development team won a Sci-Tech Academy Award for SpeedTree Cinema. We thought this week would be a good time to celebrate with you guys.

Why is an award for movies relevant to game development?

We were awarded the Sci-Tech Academy Award partially due to SpeedTree’s involvement in movies like Avatar and Noah. When ILM called us and first asked for help, we did more than simply provide the software. We adapted it to meet the needs of the VFX artists and in doing so we rebuilt SpeedTree’s DNA to be a more capable and intuitive modeling tool. This software shares 95% of its with our subscription Modeler, so while you may not be making a movie, you are in fact using Academy Award winning software.

Unity 5 is getting closer and closer, and while we know that the majority of you may not be in the beta, we wanted to offer you some assets anyway. When Unity 5 is released, we want you to be ready to jump right in with SpeedTree.
