    Hi all.

Just wanted to show off my latest project. I am an environment artist, so the project is intended to show off my skills to a potential future employer.

I've also done quite a bit of shader work for the scene, for example nothing in th scene is unwrapped, every uv coordinate is calculated in the shaders, it's a bit more expensive but i find it nice for prototyping.

The scene is still very much work in progress

I've included download for both pc and mac standalones, but i haven't tested it on mac, so there might be some funky stuff :p

    PC:

    www.lasse-westmark.dk/unity/bunker/bunkerBuildWin.zip

    Mac:

www.lasse-westmark.dk/unity/bunker/bunker.app The Mac Build won't run properly on most Macs for some reason, although it runs fine on my old mac book pro from 2006 running snow leopard

    Any feedback is appreciated.

    Edit: Added some screenshots:

    Edit:

Forgot to mention that this was done in Unity 3.0 beta 6 :)

    Edit:

    Added Mac build warning.

    Edit:

the new mac build is here too packed in a zip file, just wondered if it made a difference.

    www.lasse-westmark.dk/unity/bunker/bunkerBuildMacIntel.zip

    Edit:

Mac build still doesn't seem to work :(

    The environment is sweet!
The blowing dust, the dirtiness on the tops and in the crevices of all the objects, very nicely done!
My only real complaint is the lack of further audio progression.
The present audio does fit the theme of desolation and actually very well,
but it never progresses into anything further only remains in the continuous loop,
which can become rather tenuous, though spacing it out does help a lot.
Maybe add another subtle track of something that breaks up the present loop.
    The windy sound is great.
Next, if you are going to do anything other than produce a good looking environment,
I think you will need some interactivity with some of the objects, like opening a door
or producing something in the center obelisk or moving some of the bones or something.
It would also be nice to lock the cursor to the center of the screen.

All in all I find it quite inspirational!
    :)

    (tried windows only)

    Tried the windows version too.
Great atmosphere. The parallax effect on the obelisk is really cool.

    I found a coin in the game!!!1

    @ Don Gray:

    Thanks for the feedback :)

I'm thinking about implementing some interactive stuff, but I don't think it'll ever be game like.
I'll try to make the music less continous.
And I'm glad you liked it :)

    @ MEGATON:

I don't know if you have noticed but MEGATON and I both work at the same company, so I guess you could say that he's messin' with ya :p there is no coin, but maybe in the next build? ;) who knows :p

    Heh, heh, ok.

    :D

No, didn't notice you worked for the same company until you mentioned it.

    Good one!

Still haven't figured out what the "1" indicates in your conversion. But, hate to derail this topic any further.

    @ Don gray:

Hehe :p The "1one" startet out as a typo in the gaming community when you were spamming a lot of "!" and well then people just started doin' it intentionally I guess, that's when the "one" got added to clarify you werent making a typo :p

    @ mikesgames:

Thank you very much good sir :)

Trouble with the mac version. It starts up with the unity logo and ingame it says trial version at the corner and the game looks pitch black in some parts. What happened? :|

It's neat, but it doesn't tell me a story. I'm not given any clear points of interest, so my attention is drawn to wandering around in circles. Consider a "figure of 8" path where you still maintain non-linearity, but provide points of interest along the way where you can guide the player where you want them.

I had a friend to test it on a Mac also and it looks like all the shaders that uses my automatic unwrapping won't run on openGl or something like that. I'll see if theres anything i can do to fix that but I wouldn't get my hopes up :/

    @Duke:

Thanks for the feedback :) I'll try to make more specific points of interest :)

    @flim:

It does? :S that's wierd cus we have the same CPU, same amount of Ram and you have a better GPU than me and i pull off ~70 fps on fantastic, 1920*1200.

    Hi all :)

Just wanted to let you know that the Mac build is now working, it turns out that you can't use Mac os x universal, but i need to specify Intel only :) that means no trouble with OpenGL :) I was starting to get worried :p

You have to have an Intel CPU i guess :/

    Edit:

I have tested the mac build today on an old macbook pro from 2006 and it worked fine.

If he's using a Mac with a 9400M, then he probably has a Intel CPU.

But why doesn't it work for us?

    No, it isn't.

Are you actually using Unity 3.0? The reason I ask is because the "Powered by Unity" splash screen comes up at the start, and the trail version text shows up at the bottom right. I don't have either of these showing up in my beta builds. Is this something that only shows up on people who purchased U3 after the beta window?

I am using Unity 3.0b6, I haven't bought the 3.0 but I'm using the beta key.

I'm very sorry that it doesn't work on mac, I will build again now and upload again. Maybe i F***ed up. It should work when an old macbook pro can run it.

And about the "powered by Unity" and "Trail" I really don't know. it also says that I can't puplish webplayer-builds as they will only work on my machine.

    How does that work?

Btw, looking forward to seeing it when I get home. I'll try it on my MacBook too.

Hmm really weird, I dunno what else to do now. I ran it on snow leopard where it worked fine, dunno if that has anything to do with it, maybe it has better drivers or something? It could also be a 3.0 beta problem?

I'll add a warning to the Mac Build.

And thank you so much for trying.

I'd suggest adding more ambient occlusion for depth. You could either use SSAO, which should be a post processing effect, or you can try baking in the ambient occlusion in your 3D art tool. Also, maybe you can lighten up the sand, it's kind of dark for the desert. And maybe adding an Oasis to start from, kind of overlooking the outpost, would be interesting. It's nice art, but maybe you should add additional detail if you're trying to impress someone important. Trees, rocks, various small details, it all adds up.
