    Hi everyone,

My name is Leo and I am the latest addition to the team of Community Managers here at Unity as a Student Worker.

The focal point of my activities in this position centers on fostering communication between Unity’s Beta Community and our developers. Beginning with the 5.5 Beta I will do my best to facilitate your access to selected features and changes that come with new Beta versions by providing you with exemplary projects, videos, and other means. Additionally, I will have an eye on the Beta forum to help making your voices be heard by the right people.

Besides this, I am studying game design and development in Copenhagen, have an educational background in philosophy, and I love games of all sorts, making them, and helping others make them. Also, spaceships!

Looking forward to get acquainted with you and hope to see you in the Beta forums.

What does that mean? That you are here to grind your teeth on us, or the reverse? :p

What is "Unity's Beta Community? I supposed there was one community only?

    Well, welcome then!

Dental care is not covered by the Danish healthcare, so no teeth grinding on my side.

The broadest viable definition would probably be that the Beta Community is the part of the bigger Unity Community that uses the active Beta versions.

I study at ITU so I can't say anything about Copenhagen University. Whether those programmes are for you or whether there are better alternatives really depends on you. All I can say is that coming to Denmark and changing my field of study certainly was the right decision for me. I am very happy with what I have learned so far but there are others who will rightfully tell you a different story.

Thank you for your welcoming words. They are much appreciated!

Is the I/O Controller thing that Rune is working on going to be part of 5.5 Beta?

Phew - good thing you followed up the second part after the first part.
May also consider hanging out in the design thread. There are some in the weeds philosophical debates that carry on over there all the time.

    Welcome.

@mgear mentioned testing out the beta 2D preview for the upcoming (or recently past LD). I thought that was a real cool idea to experiment with new beta features - although might be a little constraining if a person selected a particular beta feature and was hampered on the design by using the beta feature.
I have enough trouble translating concept to even prototype - so maybe not a good idea for me - but for others.

    Sure. What job isn't?

We used to hang. But ever since he won that Academy Award he changed.

    Will check it out.

    Thank you!

I used to be. But then I took a pizza to the knee.

Any chance you also have a Chili Sin Carne Gun? I'm more the savoury kind.

Leo alerted me to this question. Better place to ask would have been the New Input System forum, but while I'm here let me say that no, it won't be in 5.5 unfortunately (we still have way to much work still left), and check here for more on the current status. If you have follow-up comments or questions, please post them in that forum, thanks.

OK, I'll give what was posted in April a try & if I get anywhere useful I'll share what I can of that I learn in those New Input System forum although from what I read that's undergoing a major design overhaul itself that isn't public yet.

    Thanks.
