    What would I like to see? well I'd like more feature parity between mobile and desktop. That means mobile friendly post fx shaders and mobile friendly shadows and so on. This would be scalable so would be going from fast + ugly to polished and AAA, so this paradigm would suit desktop as well.

    I think having automated backups could be a nice touch...just then my game just S***ted up on me and hinge joints have became huge :( after around half an hour of trying to fix it i have had no luck but if i had a backup version from 1 1/2 hours ago it could still be fine, the thing that i think unity having this that could set it apart from other backups if that you could have both sets of assets open then move from one to another untill you find the problem(making sure that there is the Current version the old version and the version that is a mix).

    Lol.
    Demostenes may be frustrated but he is right.
    Linux support for builds and the editor is by far the most anticipated feature. Instead they coming with Flash support. I guess this is probably more profitable since Flash has a huge and active developer base.

    "I think having automated backups could be a nice touch"

    Max has had this for years and though it can be a great help, after an hour and a half all your backups may have been overwritten
    with newer, unusable versions, depending on your settings.
    Personally, I do my own incremental backups, though the autobak feature did save me some time the other day after a crash.

    The most anticipated unity feature is Linux support, instead they released linux support.

    I understand your frustration man. Must be hard.

    some person may not like having to get plugins and players so they dont get flash? and if it is just a stand alone it could be fine

    Get your facts straight!
    There is no Linux support. You can't either deploy a native Linux build, nor create games with Unity under Linux. If you referring to the buggy Flash player... Oh well...

    NaCl works on Linux. Anyway he obviously made a typo, no need to overreact.

    I think NPSF3000 ment to be sarcastic not a typo.

    NaCL still isent a native stand alone build though.

    I think Linux stand-alone deployment is rather big.
    If you look at it straight from a number of users, it's a rather small percentage, but a lot of indie game buyers are from Linux OS(look at the humble bundle shares, it's usually 20-30%, with the top payment per user), and Unity is a very indie engine.

    And when they do release the U3D native version the editor won't be there. If the release the editor it won't be OS. If they make it OS it will not run on every flavor of Linux.

    And that's why I recommended against supporting the platform - full of whinging freeloaders that can't see in-front of their noses.

    Use Filehamster or a similar piece of software for any kind of development work where you are constantly updating the same files. Works wonders.

    To be comepletely honest, I think that unity needs to steal unreal engines ideas. Unity has alot of other stuff to fix but graphics are a big thing too. I would also like the ability to group inspector variables with one simple line in code like:

    @InspectorGroup "gun settings"
    var gunSpeed: int;

    UT has been working on features and such. They made a voxel terrain solution at Ninja Camp. Voxel terrain allows for caves.

    More DirectX and high end shading capabilities.
    More mobile shading magic.
    NGUI as builtin GUI.
    2D features, automatic atlases.
    Multi-threading. Really! Just the tools for us to do it.
    Editor enhancements. ( Unreal Improvements O0 )
    The ability to modify the existing editor windows.
    Better asset bundles.
    Better WWW class ( Pausing downloads, streaming, sockets ).

    Less time spent on supporting Linux, more time spent on the actual engine.
    Support for the system used exclusively by developers would be a nice catch to UDK ( they're getting more power into the engine btw ).

    If Unity truly wants to compete in the modern market there needs to be a button that randomly selects an old IP and converts it to an FPS or cover shooter.

    Or an MMO...

    Personally, I only want to see workflow improvements. Nearly all of what has been asked for can be done with third party extensions.

    Wishlist. I hardly doubt that they'll just pop NGUI into the engine.

    Probably did you see how similar CryMono is to Unity?

    I would definitely love some improved Post Processing Filters... I am a huge fan of film effects like grain and vignettes.. and the motion blur is very lacking in Unity... :)... for terrains, I just use a mesh based terrain with custom shader... and I think we need the ability to render out video from the game view so I don't have to use FRAPS.

    EDIT: I think better cloth implementation should be in Unity 4... like you guys have the right idea with the skinned cloth, painting influence vertices... you just allow collision detection on it... if anyone has used Maya cloth you know what I am talking about... also there is an issue with Interactive Cloth where the cloth is delayed while animation plays... i think that is some serious issues that should be resolved in Unity 4

    LOL... that's one of the things I wouldn't copy!

    Why can't they keep it simple?

    Code (csharp):
    1.
    2. var hit = Raycast(...);
    3.
    4. if (hit) Debug.DrawSphere(hit.point,0.3f,Color.red);
    5.

    In Unity 4.0, there must be support of .net 4.0 and full fledge media playback facility. I would also like to see inbuilt modifier support.

    agreed on .net 4.0 at the very least. Or they could always do 4.5, all things depending.

    Unity 4 will make my dreams come true by having the exact same feature set except the free version will have render-to-texture support.

    I'd much rather have the profiler included in the basic version, profiling is a basic necessity of all software, restricting dev tools to Pro seems counterintuitive.

    >Hardware cursor change by rollover of objects or GUI elements/buttons (like Flash/Director and other authoring tools has)
    >Easier GUI implementation
    >Save changes of any atributes while playing, as an option (not as a Assetstore add on)
    >A project file to save easier different versions of a project, like i.e. AfterEffects and other application has
    >Render to texture editor scripts included by default
    >More option in standard shaders i.e. reflection shader should have a transparent slider too (for simple glas or windows simulation)
    >Blob shadow with an easy to us settings. I.e. now it needs a texture only to set the intensity of the shadow, could be a slider
    >By tilling materials on a geometry the same left/right sliding parameter option, like in all other fields

    >Havok physic engine
    >More triangles than 65000 per game object, for HighEnd visualisations

    Sorry, don´t have the time to read the whole thread:

    Is there any information about Unitys DirectX11 tesselation?
    How is it implemented?
    Hopefully for all custom 3d-meshes?
    ...
