OK, I was able to connect to the asset store on my home computer. My work computer has some strict internet permissions, so that could be the problem.

I have the same error here too:
When opening the asset store it says I'm offline, and I can't use internet activation for my serial key either.

I tried on my laptop (Macbook Pro) and that one can connect... on the same network.
I tried turning my firewall of, but didn't help. Also tried changing my connection priority, didn't helpt.

    Anyone any ideas?

    Thanks

Same here. I all of the sudden cannot connect to the asset store because I'm offline even though I'm not.

This is now just happening to me with the error:

Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates url: https://kharma.unity3d.com/

I've had no changes to my network permissions on this machine.

    Anyway to fix this?

I'm now getting the same error.

Can't connect to the asset store and get the peer certificate warning.

    Hello guyz...

    hope you all doing good!
if you are facing certificate problem or login problem, then you can do one thing, just try uninstall the browser and reinstall it again with the newer version,
i dont know the exact problem, but i also faced this certificate problem once, and it solves my problem at that time.

    hope wil help you too.
also you can try to create your another account with unity, and login with that,if facing problem only to login.

    Thanks Regards:

    OK... This seems to work.
    I've only tested on Windows 7 64bit

Problem: Unity reports SSL error when starting Asset Store (intermittently and from some PCs only...)

    1. Install Chrome if you don't have it (I have Chrome version 26), check that you can browse to https://kharma.unity3d.com/

    2. Now try accessing same URL from Internet Explorer (I have IE 9)
    (for me this step fails)

    3. Then I go to Internet Explorer, Internet Options, Advanced, Scroll down to bottom and enable Use TLS1.1 and TLS 1.2 (Transport Layer Security) - I only had 1.0 enabled.

    4. Restart Internet Explorer
-> Now I can access Unity Asset store (Kharma URL above) from IE. I hope this works for you so far.

    5. Now restart your machine and then restart Unity. Should be working - if same issue as me anyway

I have a fix. I don’t use a proxy server and believe it or not, it’s actually a proxy server error. Here is the resolution in case anyone else gets this problem… It took a while to figure out what was happening and even longer as to why. For anyone that get this error and ‘think’ they are not using a proxy… check the Proxy settings in Windows 8.1, Settings Charm | Change PC Settings | Network | Proxy settings , uncheck Proxy.

Or… For other versions of Windows, You can probably set this system wide setting thru Internet Explorer, Tools | Connections | Lan Connections, uncheck Proxy. This summarizes ‘what is happening’.

As to ‘why it is happening’…

In reference to the Proxy....check if this program installed…
    a. "Browsersafeguard"
    b. BrowserSafeguard is a program that scans your web connections for threats and blocks them if detected.
    c. BrowserSafeguard is able to do this by configuring your web browser to use the program as a proxy server.
    d. This allows all traffic to be inspected as it is passed through the program
    e. Resolution: Removal of the program will allow Unity to successfully connect to the Asset Store
    f. NOTE: There are other programs that performs the same way, but recently the most frequently used one is Browsersafeguard

PS. This is a similar problem for using Outlook 2013 which gets a certificate error upon opening an Office 365 account email.

THANK YOU! It was what you said exactly. I have windows XP and disabled the proxy in IE (I don't even use a proxy) and the asset store started to load. Thanks! =)

    rfustino has the fix...
If you allowed UNITY within your firewall, and still have the issue, try this:
Within IE > Internet Options> Connections> LAN Settings.
    Turn off Proxy Server
    Click OK. OK.
    Restart Unity
    Viola!

@appl044 I think that disabling proxy server will only work if you don't need a proxy server to get at Internet... In office we would have no choice about using proxy. The TLS change (above) worked for me at home, where no proxy server.
