missing an imporant service pack patch??

I got this error when I installed Unity 3.2

I went to that link and got the hotfix. Downloaded the hotfix which apparently is password protected. Then when I went to go apply the hotfix and typed in the password that I got in an e-mail for the hotfix it didnt work. so I can not even extract this thing now to apply the hotfix?? WTF?

Now every time I open a project I get this error? That isnt cool.

Same here. On the e-mail there was also mention of 2 passwords although only one was provided.

I already sent an email to microsoft.

 

me too. keep me updated on if you find a solution. I did have two passwords in my e-mail. one for now and then the password changes on the 13th and it gave me that password too. I tried both and nothing worked. I also tried typing it as well as copy paste and no luck. I also tried renaming it to a .zip and extracting (still requires the password) and no luck.

Same issues here. Got the hotfix but password is invalid.

 

Just saw this on MS Support:

Alert – Known Issue with Unzipping Hotfix Downloads
If you recently downloaded a hotfix from Microsoft and the password didn't work for you, our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We have resolved the problem with our systems and request you download the hotfix again and unzip it with the new password provided to you.

I have the same problem. Does anyone have the actual, non-password-protected file for that hotfix?

 

This hotfix fixes a number of instabilities caused by Windows 7 64bit so is definitely worth downloading and installing. I don't know of any way to get the hotfix except by giving them an email address. I just used one of my throw-away addresses and got the password in a couple seconds. The hotfix is a simple installer after which you'll need to reboot.

 

bigkahuna, you were able to install this? could you upload that file that was extracted? the file is windows6.0-KB976038-v2-x64.msu

No avail, still same pass error , it seems locked 1 ip/password.

 

I just got off the phone with Microsoft support. I've been escalated to a "Level 2 Tech" and have a phone call scheduled for 5pm PST.. Hopefully they resolve this issue sooner than that..

I just downloaded and installed Unity 3.2 and got the same message about the Microsoft hotfix and had the same problem -- nonworking password.

Has anybody worked with Unity 3.2 and found any instabilities or problems that might need this hotfix? If so, what are they? Thanks.

same here: Windows6.0-KB976038-v2-x6 I have got 2 passwords from ms and it doesn't work.

I did the hotfix about 5 days ago (during the final days of 3.2 testing) and noticed that, in general, Unity became more stable. Prior to the hotfix I had intermittent (once a day or two) crashes for no apparent reason. Since adding the hotfix 3.2 has been pretty rock solid for me.

note there are two KB's one for Win7 x64 and one for Vista x64.

has anybody been able to get this hotfix extracted for vista x64?

EDIT: gonna work on getting it tomarrow...
EDIT2: nevermind, it would take over a year to crack the password with just brute force. I wish I had something better than a single core laptop to do this one... Man if only I could use my big beefy machine at work

I was ready to do a rollback to 3.1 when I checked the forum again.

Haven't had an answer from microsoft yet.

 

We're using XP 64 bit here, and there is no such thing as hotfix 976038 on Windows Auto Update,
What should we do now ?

 

still no extracted version for vista64

 

I'm so so so so SO GLAD I didn't install the patch and I am on W7 and not on XP or Vista eheheh
