    Cheers,
And they should be able to do so why?
Without written consent you aren't entitled to use the logo for anything at all and can be sued for trademark breach, copyright breach, slander among other things.
If you do use it, you have to comply to the requirements that come along that written consent -> the identity guide

I'm just saying to include this "identity guide" in the EULA. Some companies allows slightly modifications of their logo, (color, embed text, etc) others not. So, calm down.

Just wanted to chime in here - It would be great to have a specific logo to advertise a product's availability on the asset store. Currently, to follow the guidelines I have a phrase that states"Available in the Asset Store" and keep the logo separate from this phrase - having an graphic (similar to Apple's "Available in the App Store" graphic) would be nice to have.

I was pleased to read this:

    Avoid “Unity3D” — use “Unity”
Drives me mental when people call the product "Unity3D".

    I'm just fussy like that.............

It's not advisable to play your own lawyer, I mean are you really going to sit down to figure out under what and what pretext you are allowed to use said logo? I can tell you the law can REALLY bite you in the ass if you're not careful.
You don't want to get in big trouble for simple oversights, it's better consult someone. Personally, I know some lawyers who'll consult with me for free, so it's possible.

Also, why not get in touch with Unity about it?

Although this post is fairly old , no need to start a new one , i do have one question if someone from UT could throw me a reply. In the free version , the logo that splashes is *Powered by* Unity. Now currently in our upcoming site , we have embedded the logo into a flash player reel, but instead of using the Unity logo, we would like to add the words Powered By, or basicly , have the powered by logo?

Is this acceptable?, and if so , where exactly can the logo be found, or can we just stamp the text in ourselves?

While I sort of agree, I usually use 'unity3d' in my google searches, as simply 'unity' tends to return kind of random unrelated technologies, it's just a common word for... things. As such I use unity3d myself. I guess maybe it's just a bad habit.
