Pipeline component?

    I see them in Yoggy's car example on the wheels. What are they and what are they used for?

    (I couldn't find a reference to that component in the manual.)

    In Unity 2.0 they are not used for anything at all (objects in projects coming from Unity 1.x might have Pipeline components, but it's totally safe to remove them).

    The original idea (this is way back into the past) was that objects could have a "pipeline of filters" that produce, modify and finally render geometry; sort of modifier stack in 3dsmax. But then vertex shaders on the graphics cards arrived, making the idea largely obsolete :)

    So in Unity 2.0 we just killed the whole concept. Removing code feels good!

    I found this topic as I was also searching for the Pipeline Component because they mention it in the 2D platform example. But after reading this I guess I can ignore it :)
