Hi, I've got something small to share: http://unitydevs.com/item/cubemap-generator/ Now select your reflective gameobjects and create cubemaps on them with a click. Cheers,
I thought that realtime cubemap updates require pro, but static prerendered cubemaps can be done with indie. And there are already scripts readily available that render out cubemaps with a simple click, just a heads up. http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/ScriptReference/Camera.RenderToCubemap.html
Actually what I observed is that it works with indie producing sometimes random bits, therefore RenderToCubemap was said to be a PRO feature. The script is based on the script pointed out by Discord, but gives far more functionality. Cheers,
Great! It would be nice to add an option for forced mipmap biasing - like "generate 128", but "use 8th mipmap of it"
Hi there, Does anyone know if this tool is still available somewhere or does even have a backup he could send me? I know there are others around, but I'd like to get my fingers specifically on this one. Thx!
@ranza, May i know how to use these scripts to generate cubemaps ? It has bunch of Editor scripts, which i dont know where to attach them... Need your technical help on this... regards, Bhavesh Suthar
Ok i got, i drag the files to unity. Tools have generate cubemap, i select a floor click on generate and nothing happens. Where does it save the images?
It saves to the "Texture/Cubemap" map folder. Also, before running the script, make sure you have a Reflective Material with a temporary(aka blank) cube map on the object you're trying to cube map. Hope this helps.
