Hi all, So, I'm wondering. Does Unity have the feature to bake lighting to all of your textures? I have a complex scene set up, and with the lighting I want, it triples the poly and vert. count. I would bake it in C4D, but I don't think Unity can export a file...can it?
Gamesurgeon,,, of course The Beast is great... but it will be available only for Unity Pro, but.... if you are using Unity, you can give a try to PureLight : http://www.purelighttech.com
Nice to see another option available, but if I were going to spend another 500 bucks, I'd just bite the bullet and get Unity Pro. I imagine BEAST has superior quality, and the workflow would be well worth the money. Just my opinion!
Try gile in the meantime - http://www.frecle.net/index.php?show=§ion=giles⊂=screenshots It's free now. I recommend downloading the Beta 4 (which can do ambient occlusion) and the Legacy version, which seems to have better GI. I'm not sure it bakes but maybe you can figure it out.
I did not know Beast will be included in Unity Free! However, what is GI? And thanks for the heads up Stardog!
There are several people on this board who call Beäst "The Beast" (highly recommended; I ride it 2-3 times per year). Why is that?
Gile is great I used it a lot over the years, but I can't figure out a simple way to use it for Unity, as it doesn't export to fbx. As Beast is coming, I think I will wait for that.
