list of most important review sites & blogs

I'm currently creating a list of iphone sites & blogs for the sending PR & promo codes. I'll post my list later in this thread.
It does not make sense if people always waste their time by searching for something that can be discovered by using google anyway.

I will use alexa to sort this list by it's US traffic ranking.

I would have personally loved to see such a list but I haven't found it. Seems most people does not like to share their lists. If anyone wants to contribute to the list please PM me and I'll check alexa for the links you send me to include them in the ranking. Maybe it would be good for the community if this list could be made sticky when it's finished.

    Edit:

TobyLeon made a Google Document containing all the sites mentioned here plus many many more, sorted by alexa rank, complete with contact information - see also this post: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/480...l=1#post467779

GERMAN list (but no austrian, or swiss sites included)
Not sorted by traffic rank, but already picked out the email addresses from the contact pages!

Some are large sites, others are the web version of print magazines, and there are also a lot of iphone related blogs listed.

IMPORTANT: some of these addresses are not related to the domain name of the blog, so don't get confused when you try to check out what's behind the email address.

A few (1-3) emails not working anymore but I forgot which ones.

Please convert the (a t) and (d o t) with text edit. I had to do this because on most contact pages they were protected, it would be unfair (spam) to post the addresses in another way.

It does not fit into this list but I think it also fits into planning of marketing strategies. Apple's ranking algorythm.

    http://www.readwriteweb.com/start/20...-algorithm.php

Maybe this list could be extended to a helpful collection of infos related to marketing? Collecting related links to useful posts in this forum would be already a helping hand. Might be a time saver. All this marketing stuff kills so much time, that will be better spend in making our games better. IMO.

I have heard of another way how the ranking works and from what I saw during the last 4 days while being featured in germany it seems to be real:

It looks up for sales during the 168 hours:
    last 24 hours: x4
    24-48 hours: x3
    48-76 hours: x2
    76-96 hours: x1
    96-120 hours: x1
    120-144 hours: x1
    144-168 hours: x1
The sum of this divided by 7

I was featured in germany at 20:00 on thursday and got about 90 sales in the 4 hours till 24:00 - since friday I always see a kind of stabilization in the rankings after 20:00 (except on saturday when an important soccer match was on TV)

Where did you hear these numbers? Are your sales dropping at soccer matches?

Here some other interesting numbers. You can scroll down beyond the comments for the transcript.

yes, they dropped at the day of the soccer match compared to the day before and after - but we should move out of this thread to discuss this To keep the thread more clean.

I'm hoping to continue to grow a community-driven marketing approach where developers are able to review and discuss each other's games and Unity work to increase their brand equity.

http://infiniteunity3d.com is currently Alexa ranked 245,248 and encourage peer reviews. We had right under 45,000 pageviews to the main site last month.

We're in the process of reorganizing the site content to make it more findable and hope to help developers and their products get seen by "the right person".

Let me know if there's any way that we can help devs marketing their apps.

Just a piece of advice, for anyone who is planning on paying iPhone Toolbox to do a review, I wouldn't recommend it. I paid the $25, to get my game reviewed on http://iphonetoolbox.com/ but I was quite disappointed with the results. There was no actual review. They just took what I already posted on iTunes, and posted it on their website. A whole bunch of other websites do that for free.

When I asked them to write a review, I submitted additional pictures, a youTube link, and a promotional code for them to actually try my game. None of which they seemed to use. The only thing I got out of it was that my game was posted on the front of their Apps page.

This is probably a crazy question but...

Does anyone know how to find the mailing addresses for some of the iPhone review sites? None of them seem to list mailing addresses on their sites, but I suspect many of them have PO boxes at least for receiving press packs, etc.

    Great List!!! Thank you!!!

Last night, I went through and submitted to most of the sites in these posts. I didn't submit to 10 or so because they didn't seem to fit my app or I couldn't find contact info. (I didn't keep track of the ones I didn't submit to or I would have posted a list.)

One thing I did that was really helpful was to create a 'Letter to Reviewers' page on my site. This allowed me to send rather short emails with only a hook paragraph, promo codes, and a graphic. This was much faster than drafting an email and attaching a pdf or doc.

For the sites with a submission form, I gave them a description and forwarded them to the letter. Pretty much just like in the emails.

For an example, check out my 'Letter to Reviewers' here.
