Thanks always for the positive feedback
You hit one of the major BLUEPRINTS benefits on the head.
With the packages being modular you have all the re-usabillity and easy changes at your fingertips.
There will even be blueprints for the Tile A Dungeon - Sewer Kit and other future packages.

    Cheers

Glad the TAD kit is planned as well. One thing about the sword and shield inn is that it not only makes life easy but it's well designed and laid out. There could be loads of blueprints churned out without much thought but this level of design makes it stand out.

Edit - just reviewed that premium blueprint pack as well:)

    Yeah man,

Any specifically Modular Asset Package can benefit from this product type.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look at this,

It is surprisingly spacious on the inside, giving decent room for the camera/player and movement.

And it is nice to see that it does not have to be a HUGE building on the outside to give a nice collection of spots to use for a nice bunch of quests and people/NPC's to meet and interact with

The Barkeep, People sitting at the tables, a Scholar living in one of the rooms, secret entrance to underground area from the basement, so many creative areas from it.

I am very excited about the BLUEPRINTS packages

    Cheers

Didn't think of that. You are right larger buildings = need more terrain = lower performance and more work.

    That is it,

You have a Central Inn, 4-6 Houses, a General Store, Blacksmith, Magic shop and there you go, a small village / outpost that you can run of into the wild, collect stuff, kill monsters, harvest resources.

Have 3-5 such small villages in a 1km x 1km landscape done with Gaia and you have a easily manageable scene for your game

Just showing a typical scene with a couple of the unity beta camera effects added. Also a few Fantasy treasure props there as well. All looks great. Nothing stands out as not matching.

It's one of the inn rooms

Same scene but changed shaders on treasure/loot kit props to standard shaders and lighting to linear deferred. Just changing the loot props to standard made them look even better.

Nice ... quickly grabbed Interior & Exterior Kits. But i do find the Treasure kit expensive for the items that it has compared to the interior / exterior kit.

A pleasure. Both Interiors and Exteriors Kit have been a very nice surprise! They provide lot of possibilities to create worlds along with other useful assets. Good job Cobus.

If you use Gaia, I am working on Point of Interest Packs for Gaia which uses its new POI spawning system. Cobus is the first artist I have partnered with to feature in the packs and the Village Exteriors Kit will be required for both packs 1 and 2. Now is the perfect time to pick up this pack, which in my opinion is already priced too low even at full price! On sale it is a steal! (By the way, if you don't own Gaia.. Adam has put it on a special sale as well! Perfect time to grab Gaia, Exteriors Kit, and the other kits Cobus put on special sale!)

Here is the most recent update post in my thread showing what we are working up for our Woodlands Outposts POI Pack for Gaia which we hope to be releasing within the next two weeks. The screenshots just give a small sampling of what you can do with the 3DForge Exteriors Kit.

I must admit to really liking the woven-style fences that are a part of this kit. They add a nice rustic look to a place.

They are nice, there are think 12 different one, so you can get nice variety.
They good for vegetable gardens, small farm animal fenced areas, crops, lost uses

They are amongst my favorite in the fence section

    Hey @virror
    Thanks for the support ;)

I am sure you will be happy, if I can quote from the last review that came just a few hours ago

    " Branden Dupree
The quantity and quality of this pack is unrealistic. My girlfriend and I took literally an hour just dropping items in the world to check them out. For some of the prefabs, we both literally went "OhhHHhhhHhhhh" in unison. I'd pay this price for just the library section alone. So many books/scrolls, etc.

What really thrills me is that for any given item, there are several small variations, so even large areas never look cookie cutter. "

So this is a nice opportunity for more people to get these great assets at better prices

    Village Exteriors Kit -42%
    Village Interiors Kit -33%
    Fantasy Treasure Loot Kit -33%
    Cave Adventure Kit -33%
    Tile A Dungeon - Sewer Kit -33%

    BLUEPRINTS
If you have both the Village Interiors Kit & Village Exteriors Kits then you can grab the PB Sword & Shield Inn.

Is this like Elder Scrolls where you load the interior, or can you set it up easily to be able to walk into the house without loading, or look inside if there's a large hole in the wall?

    Edit: Looks like you can!

It depends on how you build your game. You can either script your doors to open so you can walk inside or you can script them so when they are clicked it takes you into a new scene where it loads the interior. The 3DForge Interior and Exterior Kits are just the models. You need to do your own scripts and can have them work however you decide to have them scripted... :)

Great, I was just wondering more or less what the default intention was. Thanks for the answer! I'd love to see if anyone has any cool video showing the performance of interior / exterior.

It is really dependent on how you develop and optimize your scene. What performance one person gets with their scene may be totally different than what you get depending on how you have optimized your scene. Scene size, occlusion, setting up LODs for things that are off in the distance are all sample of factors that can effect performance. Then you also have weather and water and how you have that stuff optimized.

I think Cobus linked some videos recently showing the inn which he released as a blueprint. The video was made by @tango9jeff within his game's framework. I'm pretty sure there was a point where he went from the outside and went inside. Cobus (@S4G4N) just posted a link to it within the last week I believe.

Outside the front of the building is now looking a little different from last weekend :)

    screen_1920x1080_2016-05-28_14-11-53.jpg

Also starting on the interior - just the entry point first off...

    screen_1920x1080_2016-05-28_17-24-14.jpg

One thing that I've found with the exterior/interior kits, is that from the outside you start to think to yourself that it's over-sized and you'll need to re-do it, but then you start on the interior and find out that you might need an extension :) lol

Here's a shot from at the area at the top of the stairs, looking back at the entrance area.

@S4G4N, this is probably a very basic question but...

How do you dig out a perfectly-sized square/rectangular section of terrain so that the basement or foundation of a building fits properly? I've tried to do it with the brush, but it just doesn't give me the precision I need.

    Hey there,
I just take a smallish brush size, use the height measuring tool and make it slightly deeper and then use the one that you tell it what depth yo go to.
The outside, what I did, is the plinth tapers out a good bit, so gives aa decent amount of room of error around the edges
so you don't have to be that exact

    Hope that helps ;)

    Cheers

Would be useful to know. Don't know how to do it with the terrain tools other than making sure the strength is low enough to tweek the terrain and use smooth height with a flat brush. You could make a box stamp for gaia or tc etc and just stamp where needed I suppose.

Thinking about estimating size of buildings it's probably an idea to build one 2 walls the expected length/width plus entrances and exits, then use there as a guide to build all the interiors. Then make the exteriors to suit.

I usually work on the premise that if you're going for multiple floors in the building then it needs to be at least 3-4 units wide/deep and if you're wanting multiple rooms per floor then go at least 4-5 units wide/deep to accommodate stairs and corridors
