[ WIP ] Kris Hammes - 3D character Library

    Had some time to work on the male during this weekend

    Had some time to do the trainers, also did a quick quick shader test with a very simple diffuse.

    wont lie.. feels a bit like im talking to myself here... but on the off chance someone is lurking, heres an update.

    Mesh is now done and normals bakes at 4096, looks great!

    Im hand painting the texture but aiming for a good balance between clean and a realistic style



    Ill provide two versions of the texure for release, one with very little implied lighting for those who may wish to use the character in scene with advanced lighting, and a second with baked in top down implied lighting.

    im making the shader and putting it all together with shaderforge, alone ill only be able to really do a simple shader, however if anyone is interested in helping and knows there way around a shader graph let me know, you can have a free copy of the asset when its done as thanks :D

    He will come as two variants, Nearly nekkid with boxer shorts, and tshirt jeans.

    I will add more clothing variants if hes popular, or do custom clothing for individuals if they contact me (hourly fee :))

    In engine model now.

    Starting to look at the shader, however my knowledge is limited, may be seeking some help.

    Pic attached shows the current state of it with 3 lights, not too bad, could be better though.

    Above is the model with IBL (image based lighting), looks quite nice so i think i may invest in skyshop and include skyshop shaders / textures if that's allowed in the terms and condition of skyshop (ill be contacting them this week)

    Also shown are the shoes and jeans. The Jean texture stills needs aging (grime / wear and tear etc)

    Had some more time to work on him today

    Rigged him and skinned him - nothing to really show there.

    Added more control to the shader, see below.



    • Added a fresnel colour and value slider
    • added a specular slider, and a gloss slider. so he can be sweaty!
    • added and SSS (faked!) slider so that he can be more see-through if people want him to be


    been trying to adjust it so it will look good in simple light setups, and under different conditions, quite happy with how hes looking.

    • A few more things I may try out
    • A sweat streak slider, so when hes shiny it blends in a second map that have sweat trails.
    • A mask for the Fresnel
    • Maybe try doing a IBL version for use with cubemaps, see how hard that is to do and how cool it looks.


    Learnt a tonne doing this, brain hurts though so night all.

    Here is a webdemo link, bear in mind its not really meant for web so isnt showing off the texture res .. and might be slow to play in browser.

    annnnnndddd.. im currently on the early early stages of a female character, plan is to do a base mesh and if it sells even slightly ill do variant costumes :)

    The shots here are from within unity and should be a good representation of the quality you would be able to achieve importing into your scene.
