Body mask and Transform Mask not working in Unity 4.2.1

I'm trying to get up a body mask on an animation and it wont stay red and apply button stays masked.

I also unchecked the corresponding transforms in the transform mask and it has no effect as well.

I really need the ability to mask.

Is there a trick to this? Is this a bug??

Ok,

I got the body mask to work but only by using an avatar mask asset and a new layer in the animation controller, but the transform mask still does not work.

So far:

Body mask and transform mask both don't work on the animation clip itself.

Only body mask works on the Avatar Mask asset.

So transform mask seems broken in both.
