I am creating a horror game and I had a tough time finding a decent free flashlight model so I decided to make one instead and now I want to give it out for free to the community.

Thats very high poly for a game model.

I dont know anything about modelling but here are couple of my humble suggestions:
1- If you considered this for a third person view, there is too much detail all over the place, especially at the tip where the light is coming from. As you would hide it all with a lensflare anyways.
2- if you considered this for first person view, depending on how ur gonna use it, mostly the bottom half of the cylinder shape is not going to be seen, so you can delete those triangles there. Also the backside and front side is not going to be visible either, so you can delete those too.

Does having a more high poly model make the game laggier or something?

If all 3D models have a high poly count then this will eventually slowdown your game fps, take lots of unesesairy precious memory and your build size will also grow.

So try to keep the polys as low as you can and play with your normals for some smoothness.

    Cheers,

    Roy

Yeah, this is way too high poly.

I think you can get an good looking flashlight with 200-300 polys.
