My name is James "Walsingham" Weeks previously of Trion Worlds I am the Creative Director on a new project.
I have worked on the Community Team and directly with the devs and producers on RIFT, End of Nations, and Defiance.
We are seeking various folks to begin work on the project destined for Kickstarter.
As no one else is doing an MMO of this nature (and to our knowledge never has), it's a bit hush hush. It's definitely not your standard fantasy/sci-fi MMORPG. We are refraining from saying anything publicly until we can have something substantial to show the public. We are definitely playing this one close to the vest. All that I can say is that this game will likely touch every aspect of every genre, and therefore, if designed well, will have a good amount of appeal.
We will be starting out small, with one to two terrains, working first on the areas themselves, basic functionality (such as the questing system, etc.), animation, and assets. We hope to have one dungeon completed before the crowd funding begins. We hope that this will eventually be a paying position after the Kickstarter is successful, with those jumping in early receiving incentives.
We plan for the game to be as fan-driven as possible, with no goals whatsoever of being a "WoW-killer," however we do feel that the premise for the game is very, very unique.
We are currently in need of:
A few Environment Artists (proficient with everything from aztec ruins to Nazi Germany to Sci-Fi and beyond)
A few Animators (primarily character and mob animations at this time)
Character and Creature Designers (experience in Steampunk helpful)
Engineers and those knowledgeable about mmo networking and client-side operations
World builders and those skilled with terrain
Lead Game Designer
Content Designers (objects and non-operational vehicles, etc.)
UI Designer (familiar with Scaleform or Coherent)
Particle Effects Specialist
That being said, if anyone feels their expertise could be of use, we are more than happy to talk with you. The only thing we currently do not need for certain is a composer.
Our priority at the moment is a lead designer who can keep things on track, track assets, builds, etc.
Before we can discuss the game with you, please contact us with a description of, or examples of your work.
If I had to describe our goal for the aesthetics, we are going for semi-realism. We're not talking MW3 here, but we're also not talking stylized graphics that you would find in say, World of Warcraft.
Being that this is a very indie project, we do not expect you to have years of industry experience, but we also know that there are some of you out there that are currently unemployed due to the economy.
If anyone would like to put their time into the project, and would like to know more, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can PM me here.
I guarantee this is unlike anything you have worked on before.
