Hi, this is my new terrain wip : Scardeep.
This time I change my workflow by using mudbox and wordmachine after. I bought the relief terrain pack 2 for
the terrain shader and 3d assets (medieval, and others) to use in the scene.

    Here is some screenshots.
the terrain in mudbox and worldmachine:

They worked for me earlier but are now gone as well. Hopefully it can be resolved. Beautiful terrain when I saw it earlier.

I'll post stats after optimization (light baking, occlusion culling ..).
And I have to finish it, 90% more to do.

3 new pictures. I continue to place rocks, bushes and houses. Today I added a house on the highest rock of the ravine.
The guy who lived in this house was called "the watcher" but his madness finally got him and during a night, with the help of alcohol, he jumped into the crevice in a long and scary scream.

Nice looking scene so far, but I think you could do with a custom skybox to match the colors of your ambient lighting and fog, or just some tweaks to the one you're using. The lighting on the clouds doesn't really seem to fit with the lighting in the scene also.

It'd be nice to see the scene at a few different time settings, if only Unity had a Cryengine style Time of Day system :)

    Good work.

    Thanks for compliments!

You totally right, I am also not satisfied with the atmosphere . Now I'm focus on assets placement, but after, I have to work on colors and lighting (including skybox). I can try different time settings, but not in realtime because I'm using lightmaps.

For this project, a standalone is maybe the best. Be sure that I'll upload it when all will be finished.

You should try heightmapping the terrain rock texture using the relief pack

Almost finished the first part of the terrain. I'm now on the castle and the second part of the village, including the the chasm in the mountain.
    Here's a new picture.

    Hi,

Here's a new screenshot of my zone. The castle is almost done. I changed lighting color and atmosphere too. I added a lot of rocks, tree and bushes.

Personally think it would look better with a more gloomy/doom skyline, but I cant make maps that look this fantastic, so ill just shutup and drool (I may have thrown money at the screen also).

In fact, I started with this kind of ambience, but during my tests, I enjoyed the contrast between the blue sky and the shadow cast in the ravine. I think with good sounds, the feel can turn to something dark even in broad daylight :)

Yeah, i agree, i also like the contrast, the first screenshots looked a bit boring with the more gloomy sky, this looks a lot more alive : )

Can you outline your development process on this?

Did you make the terrain in world machine and then use mudbox to smooth it out? Then did you export a mesh to unity?
I am also curious to see what asset store tools/packs you used ( if any ) like toms terrain tools etc.

    It's not a game :) Just a scenery.

Some explanation are in the first post, but maybe you want to know more about specific things?

Here's part of the village at the castle's base. I've just started this part today. I'll make screenshots using the same camera to see the evolution.
