    Hey everyone! So I decided I wanted to contribute to community by making a completely free edition for Fantasy AI! This package contains many of the basic functions from Advanced Fantasy AI 2.0. This free edition has an experimental but very simple smooth pathfinding system. Because the free edition has only the basics of Fantasy AI, it can operate on a much larger scale. Have up to 500 active AI's running fairly smoothly on most machines! The demo included has over 400 active AI's in it. The demo is all new and exclusive to the free edition!

    Instructions For Web Demo 'Dungeon Hordes'

    - User arrow keys for movement.

    - Space to attack.

    Here is a breakdown of what you will get with the free edition.

    -Experimental smooth pathfinding system(This is a sort of 'faked' pathfinding system, that works well following targets through any environment with no waypoint setup required)

    - Raycasting vision system.

    - Basic melee combat with damage control and attack speed.

    - Basic animation system with, run, idle, death, and attack.

    - Basic top view player controller.

    - Basic health manager.

    - Assign one target 'enemy'.

    - Dungeon Hordes mini game.



    Here are the things you are missing out on with the free version

    - Navigational Mesh generation with smooth pathfinding.

    -Ranged and melee combat.

    - Local obstacle and character avoidance.

    - Team based combat with unlimited enemy's.

    - Head turning controller.

    - Advanced animation system with multiple attack animations.

    - Massive control over your AI, companion features, and target locate to commands.

    - Respawning.

    - Patrolling.

    - High fidelity custom sound effects+aivoices+music.

    - Protect the crystal mini game.



    Note: Feel free to post any questions you may have here about Fantasy AI free edition. But the guys at Brilliant Game Studios are very busy and run several threads, response time may be slow.

    So I have the Full Fantasy AI edition. What am I missing from this free one?

    Nothing, The free one is the one missing things from the Advanced Version, not the other way :)

    Spanda answered your question for the most part. However the only thing the free version has that the pro verson doesn't, is the 'experimental' pathfinding system. Now, this system is far from perfect, but what makes it so neat, is that there is absolutely no setup for it. You just place the ai, and it works. The way it works is by cleverly drawing smooth path points behind the target its following. So it really only works for targets that it is following. :)

    Hi,

    Impressive. Some pathfinding bugs but, no fps dropping with a lot of AI.
    Like it. Ready for the release.(and PayPal) ;)

    Yes, the pathfinding is far from perfect. But this is the free version pathfinding. The pro has navigational mesh generation and local obstacle avoidance.

    I have some unfortunate news everyone. The entire scene for the mini game was lost. The thing that makes it most unfortunate, was that I was preparing it for the final submission... Unfortunately this is going to really delay the release of this free edition..

    I can release the scripts and prefabs if you like. But the whole scene is lost. Trust me, I share the frustration. :)

    Thanks for the support. All I really need is a squad of cheer leaders to motivate me to setup all the materials, drag the materials onto all the 'pink' objects, rig all the AI's again, place 400 of the AI's around the map, and rig and place 30 health potions around the map.

    Here it is. The finished mini game 'Dungeon Hordes'. I fear I may have overdone things again! There are 500 AI's to take out!

    Your mission... Kill all 500 evil skeletons! Make sure to pick up as many health potions as needed!

    Hint: By attacking in a very rapid succession, you can do double the damage.

    This looks great. I'm trying to use it in my 2.5D platforming game now. However, I'm having trouble getting the skeleton to "see" my player. Can someone explain the Character Collision layer thing in more detail? I have my player assigned as the enemies target, and the Collision layer on the skeleton is still 15. Is there anything I have to change on the player?

    You said your skeletons collision layer is 15. Is your player layer 15? Thats the most important part.
