Free Friday, AKA "Our excuse to make time to do crazy ideas"

In under 24 hours, here's the game I made: Mecha Fields (working name)

Mecha Fields is a mobile artillery warfare game. It's basically Scorched Earth on legs. It's inspired greatly by Navy Field (http://www.navyfield.com/)

    Playable build here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/25260770/MFWeb/MFWeb.html

    Controls:
Left click: aim at that direction
Right click: move towards that direction
    Spacebar: shoot
    F: raise turret
    V: lower turret
    WASD: move camera
    G: center on your mech

If you have no one to play with, you can go ahead and create a server by yourself just to check out the controls.

You may be surprised by how slow the mechs move, and how you have to keep on clicking (I'll probably allow holding the mouse buttons). The emphasis here is on proper aiming and planning, and not being an in-your-face action-oriented game.

Everyone in the office had a blast playing this, as quite a few of us are fans of Navy Field. I'll be adding more to this game later on, like different mech types, different weapons, different multiplayer modes, etc.

We almost didn't do our Free Friday this month, as a result the event started at 3 PM, so it was only 6 hours worth of development time.

So I decided to pick up the previous project and experiment on my boss fight idea: "Operation Crab Hunt". The story is some opposing army has sent a "gargantuan class mass destruction walker" to destroy a city and its up to a few of you to stop it from doing that.

Unfortunately I didn't have enough time, so only a demonstration of the boss enemy's main attack was implemented. To see it, go near the orange curved shapes floating near the boss enemy, stay close by and wait for them to go red. Take note a lot of its attacks and vulnerabilities have not been done yet and there are some bugs.

Controls are same as before: right-click to move to a point, left-click to aim, spacebar to shoot, F to raise turret, V to lower turret. No brakes yet. Middle-click-drag to pan the camera.
