Hey everyone, I thought it would be useful for everyone to post the name of their Unity iPhone apps that are live in the AppStore in this thread so we can all go and sample the goodness. So post away. :)

It's not my app, but Crazy Snowboard is another. Could this thread be stickied?

Butterflies is now up at the app store. w00t!

Thanks everyone for the help in the forums and thanks Unity Team for making such a great tool.

Here are a few things I thought were important...
    1) Download size of the zip file was 9.5M before submit and on store is 18.1M. I made some choices to reduce the file size within the 10M limit for cell network download. I'm going to look into this and either add those things back to it or try to reduce the store download size to under 10M.
    2) Using the OnGUI make sure to set that useGUILayout property to false- this picked up 10fps for me.
    3) It took 3 days for approval like others have been indicating this week.
    4) Reading the forums was very helpful!

    :D

Why do these last programs come up as 19MB and 25MB big?

That way they are far over 10MB and commercially NOT interesting to sell.
I haven't seen any unity game yet which is less then that 10MB, so what goes wrong here?

The base app itself due to the size of mono is already considerably high. if you want smaller sizes, then you have to get unity advanced which can cut parts of the mono etc backend you didn't use to reduce the size

also using PVRTC compression and using realistic textures sizes and amounts (<= 256x256, as less as possible) are needed.

doing a real 3d game = no chance to get below 10MB!
also I've some probs seeing the issue here. Apples own poker game is 140mb, yet its far further up the selling list than most other games.
just because you can not download it on wifi, this does not mean you can not get it while on the go. most phone contracts include wifi access as its far cheaper for the carriers
also if your size is reasonable due to the quality and content offered, there will be a far lower hurdle to have users buy it anyway.

Thing is, a basic Unity iPhone build without any content is around 5MB or so when compressed. It should be quite possible for a real 3d game to come in under 10MB as long as the sound is minimal and you don't go crazy with textures, but something seems to go wonky with the app store size somehow. But yeah, there are apps way over 10MB that get high sales so I don't think it's a huge issue, but it would still be good to know what's going on exactly.

Well with 2.1 the install speed raised drastically ... so I would guess that apple:

    1. either does not compress them anymore
    2. compresses them with the lowest profile, not the ultra as on the desktop

because before the update, it took several mins to install their poker, now its about 30 secs I think

My best launch has been FuguMaze with around 20,000 downloads the first week. But it was free.

I just found this app which makes it easier to extract totals from the itunesconnect daily/weekly reports:

    http://blog.fieryferret.com/2008/10/appstore-clerk.html

From that, my stats so for the past four weeks:

    FuguTilt - 12389 downloads
    FuguBowl - 12807 downloads
    FuguMaze - 22383 downloads 5037 updates

I think you should show some more screenshots of the game... I buy almost everything created with Unity just to check it out, but the 2 screenshots there just wasn't convincing enough for me to click the buy button.

I like it! You should add in a few other fish types, some needs like hunger and rest, then let the player introduce some predatory fish into the tank, food, etc. It could actually turn into a game instead of a fish tank with only a little (I imagine) work.

Sweet, Jeremy! iTunes says it isn't yet available for purchase. If so, how did you get the link before it was available? I'm really looking forward to checking this out as this looks just like an idea I worked a little bit on and planned to return to.

Login into iTunes Connect > Manage Your Applications > App Details (for the App you are interested in) > Apple ID

    e.g. mine is 294919686

Then swap your ID in this URL:

    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=294919686

If you try the link before it is available you will get a message to that effect.

Jeremy - I just went on iTunes to look at screen shots for your game.

I'm sorry to criticize but I just can't help myself. The screen shot that shows instructions says something like

Seriously? Your motivation for not killing a police officer is that you don't want to get sued? Seriously?

Wow, Technicat - you've made over $22K on FuguMaze!

    That's awesome!

Alas, if it were only so. The vast majority of those downloads were free. I started charging $.99 after ten days, when I submitted an update, and the new download rate dropped drastically, maybe 5-10 per day, although there are still a lot of downloads occuring that are free updates. At least that's enough to pay for lunch (if I eat cheap).
