The aiming was cool, I did something similar in an old game maker project. I wouldn't have it rotate as you aim up and down though, make it so you can move the cross hairs up and down with no effect on camera movement.

For aiming we have a camera, which gets the distance from the player applied to it, parented to a object at the center of the character, which we rotate. The distance from the camera gets calculated by using a combination of camera to screen point and screen width calculations. And yes we do use the basic locomotion, but the actual animation system for aiming and such, as well as the movement we did ourselves.

I like the menu, looks exactly like Battlefield. Are the gun sounds from counterstrike? That first gun sounds exactly like the Mp5 from CS. Seems like its going to be a tough game, cant really do much like peeking around a corner, dodging bullets or camping. With some nice proper art, at least it will be a very solid proof of concept. If you need any environment modeling, Ive been doing that for years and can get you some nice photoreal stuff

    Hi there,

    @hellraizerhhh
Some of the gun sounds are from Counter Strike, but all of them have been edited and improved, to fit the game. I have recently played about 2 hours of Outpost and I must agree, it is tough to get used to... It's very different from most other shooters! If you would mind, I'd like to see at least one "preview" of what you are capable of doing :)

    Thanks,

Cool videos. It looks like an interesting concept, there is a lot of potential there.

I downloaded the game when I tried to create a server it said player name not set. I'm not sure if i missed something but it wasn't immediately obvious, so I just played offline.

    Here is my feedback:
The gameplay is fun, the weapons feel good and the controls were pretty straight forward for the most part.

    Ladders:
Pressing 'e' to use a ladder was a bit unexpected, but I found it in the end.
The way the player snaps to the ladder feels a bit weird.
It would be good to have a ladder animation, but it would be a bit of work.

    Guns:
The handgun icon was a two handed weapon which looked like a shotgun. I'm not sure if that was accidental or whether it is just place holder art.

    Level Design:
The big hole through the floor which you can fall through was a bit hard to see side on, I fell in it a few times. It could be good to make it a bit more visible. You could do something subtle like adding a sign to in the level like this: https://www.google.com.au/search?q=watch+step+sign.

    Controls:
Hold shift to run was cumbersome. I haven't played a game like that in a while, it is more common to have shift to walk. I didn't see any real benefit to walking so I wonder why it is there. Is there some benefit like improved accuracy when walking as opposed to running?

I look forward to seeing future updates, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Thank you for your review :)
"it said player name not set" you set the username at the bottom of the screen, where it says username
"It would be good to have a ladder animation, but it would be a bit of work." we are currently working on getting some animations
"was a two handed weapon which looked like a shotgun" yes, again we are working on animations, for now it will have to stay like that :(
"you can fall through was a bit hard to see side on" the new update makes it easier to see
"Hold shift to run was cumbersome. I haven't played a game like that in a while" Our target audience is the huge community of FPS players, which is used to holding shift for sprinting and not being able to shoot while sprinting. We hope to emulate these controls for an easier transition throughout games.

I'm glad you had fun :)
