    Hi guys!

We are a small wannabe indie developer studio based in Tourin, Italy. We are so small in fact that... we don't even have a proper name for now! Got to find one in the next couple of days...

Anyway, we are developing an iOS action adventure game, directly aimed at the avid gamers crowd, with a nostalgic and essential graphic style and a unique control system. The game is running at 60fps on iPad 1+ and iPhone 4+/iPod touch, and at 30fps on the iPhone 3GS. We are aiming for constant 60 frames per second because, for a game, it's really worth it. Night and day.
We are in pre alpha stage now, we have a 30 minute demo that we are polishing right now.

Of course we are using Unity for the project, and some awesome extension from the assets store: Ragespline, Ragetools and Poolmanager.

We'll post a video online as soon as possible, meanwhile enjoy some images and screenshots from the game!
    And give us feedback!

    Thank you!

Very hard to express in words how awesome it is to be able to provide tools that power such a work of art! Thus, I'm speechless.
Just thanks for the kind mention :)

Thank you all for the kind words!

When the graphic designer reads 'Another World', he's just overjoyed. It's one of our favourite game and it's a great source of inspiration.

We'll keep you informed about the project, more screenshots and detail coming in the next few days. We'll have a Youtube trailer online soon. :)

Just a quick update on the project and some new screenshots: we're working on the particle system now. We are using particles heavily to add lots of detail and interactive elements in the scene.

As you can see in the new screens, we have lots of aliens, glowing plants around. We don't want to spoil too much for now, but they are an integral part of the story of the game and an important gameplay element.

Hope to have a movie of the game out on YouTube for monday!

    Thank you!

We use Poolmanager to pool almost everything: enemies, particles, sound effects and so on. Absolutely need to avoid instantiating and destroying on iOS. ;)

The tool is great, easy to set up and play with.

    Thanks! :)

We love Another World, it was a great inspiration for the visual style of the project, although the game is very very different.

We are in crunch mode now, the game is in alpha stage right now but we are finishing and polishing a demo to show very soon.
We'll have more info and a couple of movies in the next few days. ;)

Very nice looking... even in motion. Very fluid looking. I'm very surprised with the number and size of the Rage "Shapes" you can get away with. Good to know.

Ok, we are not dead! :)

We worked on the project after E3, with the feedback we received we changed a lot of things and improved our tech a lot. We'll share a lot more information about the project from now on, and we'll an official trailer soon (I promise! This time for real! :) ).

First, an advice for anyone using RageSpline on iOS: after extensive testing, we replaced the RageSpline basic shader with our own. All RageSplines are alpha blended, so on iOS if you use a lot of them covering all the screen, like us for our level, you'll have HUGE overdraw.
We now use an opaque shader for all the spline that don't need to be transparent or semi transparent. Yes, you give up on the 'free' antialiasing, but on iOS is better to enable true antialiasing on all the scene, the PowerVR is that good at doing AA. ;)

A new screens on iPad 3, WIP but with AA8X enabled, full retina display, 60fps. ;)
Just open it at full resolution, I'll share some more complex scene later.

We gave up on AA only on iPad 1 to have the 60fps.

Some more screeshots, taken by Andrea, our graphic designer and co-game designer. Lots of redesigned and improved stuff, everything is a lot more visually coherent, and we have some nasty, NASTY enemies... :)

    dark and mysterious conduits

    Doors and locks

    Dangerous foes and energy sources

    Caves and shields

    puzzles and annoying jumping creatures

    Big gear wheels and bombs

More hi resolution screenshots coming soon... ;)

Some new update: we have finalized our save system, finalized some of the enemies models in our demo and we have a couple of new screenshots to share! :)

    A new friend...

...lots of nasty and bugging new friends!!

Final design for our SuperFlower. Think of it as a Zelda heart container or a Metroid Energy tank: it boosts your total energy. And the plants is fully interactive and phisics driven. :)

Last, we are the third more popular game on SlideDB!

A little update, after a ton of time.

We are working hard on the game and finally we have set up a little office to work together on forma.8 (and our other project Futuridium) full time. Everything is going great, and we have now all the basic gameplay elements in place and fully functional. All the power ups and the different attacks are in place and working, we have a full autosave system, with different save slots, and a full in game map, with automapping. The game is really big, a lot bigger than we anticipated, and a map is a given.

And now, a new gameplay video, form the first area of the game, thanks to the preview done by Alex Kunzelmann on Alex's Mobile Game Reviews.

And a couple of new screenshots from the game:

Again, thanks for following forma.8! We hope to share a lot more with the community in the future...

    Thanks. :)

It's a lot of work and we are only two, but we're really happy so far with the results. And Unity is a blast to work with!
