    Uhm... ok maybe your script works better, but do you know the OPTIMIZE modifier?

    Yes I am aware. Although I am unsure does the "optimize" modifier keep somewhat of a uvmap?

    also its not my script I didn't program it I found it.

    I think OPTIMIZE does not hold the UV in any way, unless you use basic projection UVW modifier, in which case it holds perfectly.

    If you want to make a couple LODs, one for middle distance and one for far distance, the one for far can be produced using the OPTIMIZE modifier, you don't need to care for UV mapping for objects that are a bunch of pixel on screen, usually.

    For the middle distance, UV or not UV aware filter, the LOD is usually done by hand because any automated algorythm is not producing anything suitable... i.e. you see too much deformation or the decrease in tri is so low that is useless.

    This, at least, is my experience.
