how all people do this effect what is the secret how game looks so cool
fantastic and so complete!
This looks fantastic. I think I will have to grab this tonight. What is the rocky wall? Is it larger rocks you can connect together or is it a wall as in a man-made wall?
Thanks for the nice words guys!
Hey Thanks very much
Yes it is a man-made wall. I just included a new screenshot which shows this item as well.
There is no secret or particular "magic" effect. It is all about lightening, the proper use of image effects and the assets of course This package includes also some tips for lightening and atmosphere, as well as the demo scene to study it.
This should be the model that all asset packages aspire to be.
Don't know if you plan on expanding this pack or making a part 2 in the future.... but it would be awesome if you could add even more mountain variations. Maybe even a pack like this but for a Winter season look.
That is funny, because initially I didn't plan any mountains...
During the creation of the demo scene I realized, that mountains made in the terrain engine doesn't look that exciting. So I decided to create some extra mountains to spice up the scene. Though, I'm happy you guys like them. I will definitely take your suggestions in consideration for future updates/new packs. Thanks so much!
By the way. If possible please leave a honest rating/review.
Could you explain what you meant by " terrain engine will be updated with bump mapping by default" in regards to using the normal maps that you provide on the terrain?
It is just a matter of time until UT will update their terrain engine. Probably with Version 4. I asked about that here and this was the answer:
And it is very likely that the new terrain engine will support bump mapping. We're well aware of the need to update the Terrain engine, but we want to do it right with all the bells and whistles and that most likely means breaking backwards compatibility. That also means it probably won't happen until at least 4.0 when we can start from scratch.
In the meantime you can go with a third party solution to get bump mapping work on terrain. Like Sixtimesnothing's Script, or Lars Bertram's Terrain Shader So I think it is a good addition if the normal maps are provided as well.
