We're closing in on our next release of Unity version 3.5.0.

Before we release to the world, we would like everyone checking that the web player auto-update works for us.

Ensure you have a Unity WebPlayer already installed and please test the player we've uploaded here by clicking the link below:

    http://files.unity3d.com/chris/AutoUpdate/WebPlayer.html

Once the player has loaded you should see your runtime version displayed as 3.5.0f1. You will also see a spinning Unity cube on fire.

If the player on that page causes any problems, please tell us immediately via replying to this thread. Additionally you can submit a bug report using the Unity Bug Reporting tool from inside the Unity editor, Help -> Report a Bug.

    Thanks everyone! :)

    Hi Metron alonzo,

Yeah that's expected, we are only testing our 32-bit plugin here, so a 64-bit browser will display the "unsupported browser" error message. Please use IE in 32-bit mode to run this test.

    Thanks!

    Works but context menu buggy

    Win 7 64-bit
    Chrome 16.0.912.75 m
    Firefox 9.0.1

If I right click on the Unity player I can't dismiss the context menu by clicking elsewhere, It also seems to often (not always, but mostly) prevent me from switching tabs or interacting with any other part of the browser interface. If I click on a different application window then switch back the context menu is gone and I can interact with the browser again.

Not sure if this was happening before the update (didn't check) but it works fine (pre and post web player update) on IE 9.0.8

It works here (Mac OSX 10.6.8 / Chrome 16.0.912.77) but why is it showing that the test player was built with a trial version?

Don't worry about the trial version text, it's irrelevant to the testing. ;)

latest updates of browsers (unless stated):

    Windows 7 64-bit
    • Firefox works
    • Chrome works
    • Safari works
    • Opera works
    • IE works
    • IE 64 bit, does not start game; unsupported is displayed. But I am guessing that is intended.

    Windows vista 64-bit
    • Firefox works
    • Chrome works
    • Safari works
    • Opera works
    • IE works
    • IE 64 bit, again unsupported

    Windows xp
    • Safari (5.0.1) works
    • Chrome works
    • Firefox works
    • Opera works
    • IE works

    Mac snow leopard
    • Safari works
    • Chrome works
    • Firefox works
    • Opera works

Did not go right clicking and stuff, just opened it in each browser to see if it started and played.

Looks to me like we are getting 3.5 soon :D

There seems to be no problem in general.... So, can we expect 3.5 release in a week?

Fails for me on mac, Just now. Thursday Jan 26, 2012, 8 PM Pacific time.
or more likely I don't understand how the WebPlayer fits into the mix.

Advice on where I've gone wrong would be greatly appreciated!
I'm surely making some newbie totally wrong-headed mistake.

MacBook Pro, Firefox, the download I get appears to be 3.4.2 not 3.5.0. Am I doing something wrong? I tried both the universal and the i-386 version, neither of which says anywhere on the downloaded .dmg file what version they are, which doesn't help troubleshooting this. And, YES, of course, after downloading the .dmg, I double-clicked the icon, got the install dialog, did the install, got a successful completion, restarted Firefox, and even rebooted the Mac. Same result.

    Details:

    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M 620 @ 2.67GHz (2660 MHz)
    OS Version: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Darwin 10.8.0 Darwin Kernel Version 10.8.0: Tue Jun 7 16:33:36 PDT 2011; root:xnu-1504.15.3~1/RELEASE_I386 i386

    Firefox: 9.0.1
Page I'm trying to get to run on Unity: (built with unity 3.5 beta)
    http://jibemicro3.reactiongrid.com/StarlightHarbour/
    on XP that works.
on Mac I get "unity web player update finished but installed version 3428003 is less than required version 3506006. Please Reinstall"
so I select manual reinstall and I get sent to this page
    http://unity3d.com/webplayer/
which tells me that, yes, my mac has 3.4.2f on it now, both unity plug in and unity engine.
so I select download (I've tried both universal and i-386)
which downloads, I see the package, click package and starts install, installs, says installation successful, but apparently it is NOT successful because the error message does not go away.

    Hi @Starlight Harbour,

Please follow these steps to run the auto-update test:

    1. Un-install Unity WebPlayer - via /Library/Internet Plugins/Unity WebPlayer Plugin - move to trash -> then empty trash - also check your users account /Library/Internet Plugins/ and also move to trash and empty trash

    2. Launch browser you wish to test on and empty cache - restart Mac

    3. Go here: http://unity3d.com/webplayer/ and download and install the Mac webplayer, this is our 3.4.2f3 release version

    4. Once install has finished restart browser and go here: http://unity3d.com/webplayer/ - your version should read: 3.4.2f3

    5. Now click this link: http://files.unity3d.com/chris/AutoUpdate/WebPlayer.html

    6. If the player loads you should see your runtime version displayed as 3.5.0f1 - this means the auto-update is successful

If this process fails at any point please describe which step above it failed at in a bug report using our integrated bug reporting tool -> Help -> Report a bug

    Thanks :)

Yes, I have disabled the ability to right-click and open the context menu due the a bug we are working on and fixing. Is that what you mean't by "kinda"?

    Thanks :)
