This is a quick test version..

It imports 3ds max particle animation into unity,
could be useful for advanced (precalculted) particle effects.

    Webplayer demo:
    http://unitycoder.com/blog/2011/08/21/mparticles-v1-0-3ds-max-particle-animation-importer/
    * wait for few seconds while it loads the particles at start,
the animation is 200 frames, after that it pauses for 3 seconds and starts again.

    Screenshots:
Particle system in Max then same particles in unity (although not the same frame in the screenshot..)

is the import actually using the unity particle emitters?

    Yes using unity particle emitter,
it just exports/imports particle animation (positions).

This looks extremely useful! Can you tell me what limitations or drawbacks there might be?

No.. only from max to unity.

But it wouldnt be difficult to do that, just record particle positions in unity and then animate in max,
althought it could be quite slow to set them in every frame change..
